Cement tiles appeared at the end of the nineteenth
century in Europe with the industrial manufacture
of “Portland” cement.
The decorative floors found in palaces of
the Belle Epoque and Art Noveau eras were
very often produced using cement tiles.
The technique then spread to the French, Spanish
and Portuguese colonies.
|
| |
There is no difference.
The materials used (Portland cement, marble
powder, aggregates and pigments), and the manual
production methods are identical.
But today the MOSAIC del Sur factory has the
benefit of modern progresses in cement and prefabricated
concrete technologies.
|
| |
Yes. The materials used are mineral, inert, and non
allergenic.
The five primary pigments have existed since
ancient times, and have proved to be harmless;
iron oxides for black, red and yellow, chromium
for green, and cobalt for blue.

Yes. At the MOSAIC del Sur factory we have a workshop
of integrated moulds, and we employ two specialists
who manufacture 10 to 15 new designs per week.
Our specialists reproduce old tiles of all styles,
regions and eras, as well as create original
customized designs.
Our catalog and website show only a selection
of our available patterns. But any other pattern
is also available, and at the same price.

MOSAIC del Sur offers cement tiles which have
been manufactured in our own industrial facilities,
where we can ensure the quality of the entire
process of creating, pressing, drying, controlling
and packing the tiles.
Our production is checked regularly by the official
Test Laboratory of the Junta de Andalucía
(Autonomous Government of Andalusia), in Seville,
and meets European standard A 1339.

We have a large selection of tiles in stock

Yes. The many photos of bathrooms that we feature
on our website demonstrate the interest which
exists in decorating bath and shower areas with
cement tiles (see photo gallery).
Cement tiles can be used to enhance the beauty effect
on bathroom floors and walls.
MOSAIC del Sur cement tiles are class 2 (slippage),
and are therefore appropriate for use in bathrooms
and places with a humidity of less than 7º.
Shower bases can be fitted with non-slip, single
color tiles with raised surfaces.
Cement tiles which have been cleaned thoroughly
after installation, are treated to be waterproof.
They are then maintained in the same way as
marble.

Yes, cement tiles conduct heat very well.
The recommendations are the same as for all
other ceramic, sandstone or terracotta paving
slabs.
- Carefully stick the tiles with a special cement
floor glue (elastic).
- Leave a space of 1mm between the tiles, and
grout with a special elastic cement joint filler.
|

After installation, and after they have been
thoroughly cleaned, and allowed to dry completely.
|

Never use oil.
On a clean, dry floor apply one or more coats
of pore filler (like that used on terracotta,
marble and natural stone).
Do not apply too much of the product. Test the
product on a single tile before treating the
floor.
Then apply marble wax.

The MOSAIC del Sur factory produces 5000 m2
of cement tiles per month, 5000 tiles per day,
with a team of 110 people, craftsmen operators,
assistants, laboratory technicians, and packing
controllers.
Transportation of the tiles is undertaken by
the network GEFCO Europe.
|
| |
The cement tiles are packaged in cardboard boxes
weighing roughly 20 kilograms (e.g.,16 tiles
of 20x20 cm), separated by foam dividers.
The boxes are packed onto Europalettes of 80X120,
with a maximum of 35 m2, or 1300 kilograms per
palette.
The palettes are protected by woods bindings,
and the whole thing is bound firmly, and wrapped
in plastic.(see photos)
MOSAIC del Sur arranges transportation through
the network GEFCO Overseas, a unique integrated
European network capable of delivering quickly,
and at a competitive price.
